Tuesday Morning Sketches #91

It's another wonderful Tuesday morning at Tuesday Morning Sketches. This week Melissa has a great sketch. I challenge everyone to not make it a Christmas card! When I first looked at the sketch it screamed Christmas...but I was determined to make something else.

I really like how my card came out. I hope that someday I can make a card and it not take several hours. Watercoloring the apple was easy, cutting it out was simple. It was pulling the paper and the embelishments together that I managed to tear my entire craft room apart and go through every sheet of paper and every embelishment I have. I have so much stuff, but it seems all I want to do is buy more and more stuff. What an addiction we/I have!!

I used a stamp set called Fruitful Delight from Close to My Heart. I really like this set. I have been a bit intimidated by the other fruits...I made a card with the cherries, but never the apple, the strawberries, or the pear. I think coloring a pear would be hard. This summer when I am off I hope to go to a watercoloring class to learn some techniques. The flourishes and scallops I used are not stamps, but rub-ons. I have never liked rub-ons, but CTMH has a good quality rub-on. Another idea using these rub-ons would've been to make coffee cups!!

Thanks for stopping by. I do hope that you'll tell me what you think of my card. Have an awesome day!

Tuesday Morning Sketches #90

Hello Crafters - there is no sketch today, but a challenge. Let me tell you it was a challenge!! I think I had one idea in my head and it didn't come out the way I pictured. I found this card to be tough. Not so much in terms of cutting or lining up, but perhaps in theme for me. Heck I don't know what did me in, but my feelings are still out on this card.

Melissa is challenging us this week to a surprise pop-up card. Beate over at Splitcoast Stampers has offered a wonderful tutorial - be sure to check it out! We also have a new sponsor - Chi Chi Memories. They have some absolutely darling digis...so be sure to head over and take a look.

Well I can't wait to hear what you think of my card. Thanks for stopping by and I hope you have an awesome day!

Also, be sure to stop by the rest of the DT to see their wonderful creations!

Tuesday Morning Sketches #89

Good Morning Crafters - Today, Melissa has a very challenging sketch and a wonderful sponsor - Tiffany Doodles. As for the sketch I think my problem was that I took it very litterally (as I do with everything)! It took me a while to put something together. I think I agonized over this card for 2-3 days.

First, the sketch. Don't let the arrows fool you. Be sure to check out what the rest of the DT did - there is some amazing inspiration there. My card, I just love this paper. I wanted to make something masculine because that was how I saw the arrows. My brother-in-law's birthday was the other day so I made this card with him in mind. I hope you like it.

Next, Melissa is looking for a couple of people to join our design team. To apply for the design team you must play along with this sketch challenge and max it out with your personal style and flair. You don't have to be a certain age to be on the design team and you don't need any previous experience. Link your entry in the InLinkz widget with DTA (design team app) behind your name. On your blog post please include a brief paragraph telling Melissa what you'll bring to the design team. Good Luck!

Thanks for stopping by. Have an awesome day!!

Tuesday Morning Sketches #88

Good Morning Tuesday Morning Sketchers...we have a great sketch for you to play with today and a great sponsor - Deedee's Digis. I hope that you'll check out her blog. I did and there was a lot of digis I wanted to play with - darn my printer!!

I turned to Close To My Heart stamps. For this card I used two sets: Dream Wishes and Four Seasons. I love the four trees in the Four Seasons sets. When I put this card together all I saw was circles. I began with the image and then when for the paper after that. I think I managed to pull together a great combination. The flowers around the tree are from a wedding set - and I love the ring of flowers. I didn't want the second circle to be just a layer. Since it's supposed to be spring (we got snow on Sunday!!) I see trees budding and soon flowers will be blooming. Well at least on my card it will be.

Please take the time to visit the talented ladies on the team. They have some great projects to share.

Thanks for stopping by. I hope you have an awesome day!

Baby Congratulations

I can't believe it - I finally made a card outside of my DT cards!! This past Saturday I spent the day at the "World's Largest Crop" and it was large...there was 1,399 women and 1 man there! It was amazing to see all those people. In the 12 hours I was there I managed to get two cards done - I did a lot of socializing.

Onto my card. There is a sweet young woman at my school and she is having her first baby. I had my sister make a knitted baby blanket for her and I made the card. I wanted to thank her for the time that she spent in helping me refine my classroom management skills. I think Karin did a fabulous job on the blanket. The mother to be did not want to know the gender of the baby so we went with yellow. I followed suit with the card.

I don't have girl friends that are about to have babies so I don't typically make these kinds of cards. I only have one baby set - Polka Dot Pals from There She Goes. It's such a cute set. I wish I had more of an opportunity to use it.

I hope you like my card and I really hope you like the blanket.
