Magical Dreams

I was so excited to use this stamp...I got it from Unity Stamps Kit of the Month and haven't had time to play with it. I decided to get the kit because of this image. Isn't it just the cutest?

Melissa's sketch at Tuesday Morning Sketches was a challenge, if I may say so. I guess that's why I like her sketches, because they do challenge one's artistic ability. I hope that you'll want to play along with us.

Here is my imitation of the sketch. Head over to TMS to see the sketch.

My Oh So Late Monthly Card

I am late with my monthly card swap. It was due to be mailed on the 20th...but probably won't make it to the mail until the 31st. I don't know the name of the image, but the host for the month threw down the challenge of making each card different. I don't know that I'll get that far considering I can't manage one card, let alone 6 different designs. I had spent my Christmas day going through 2 entire blogs, one being Jessie Rone. They were on my list of wishes this year. I just love her style - she makes layering look easy. Well, I found one card that I thought would be a great fit for my monthly swap (click on Jessie's name and you'll see her original).

The host sent 2 images, I'll work on my design for the other one later, and 6 different DPs. I love the DP for the card posted, the other DPs (too me) are not that attractive, so this card I'll keep!! The other DP is fine, this one just happens to be my style.

I hope you enjoy!
p.s. - the dark layer is a very dark blue, the photo looks black!

A Special Thank You!

The week we went on winter break my students and I were the recipients of a very fabulous donation. I needed to make a very special thank you card (even though the company did not want thanks...how could I not??) Let me tell you how this gift began....

One of my favorite shows is Unwrapped on the Food Network. The episode I was watching was on Christmas goodies and one of the segments was on Color-A-Cookie. It was just like stamping only on a cookie!! They provide edible markers so that you can color the image - it's totally cool! I contacted the company and for my budget it was out of the question. Well in conversing via e-mail with one of their representatives, Jordan, he was so kind and decided to not only donate the cookies to my classroom, but to the entire 2nd grade class (77 students). How could I not thank him and this wonderful company.

For Christmas today, I spent the day surfing blogs and came across two amazing cards and I just had to CASE them. I'm still working on the second, so I'll post that tomorrow. For the thank you card I took inspiration from Senior Trendsetter, Faith Hofrichter. I just purchased the Act of Kindness and Birdie Wishes from There She Goes and was all too happy to ink these sets up. Now that I've made this card...I don't want to give it away. I hope that Jordan likes it as much.

Well, have a wonderful day and I look forward to hearing from you.

Taking a Twist on Challenges

I decided that I wanted to take a twist on this week's Tuesday Morning Sketches and I wanted to join this week's There She Goes #34 - Baby It's Cold Outside! Challenge - along with a twist too.

Melissa and I were talking and I was going on about Jessica's Stampbook Saturday and how I was making two amazing 12x12 layouts of me. I told Miss I didn't want to make a card-I had spent the week making stockings for my students and just couldn't muster up another "holiday" card. As I was reading the There She Goes challenge I decided to make TMS a scrapbook layout and use it for my submission to TSG. I love the idea around TSG's Stampbook Saturday since many of my 12x12 layouts I use my stamps - it adds such a unique touch and doesn't make the album thick.

Of course as I got into creating, I ended up making two layouts - one 6x6 and one 8x8. I love them both! They follow the theme of the sketch and I hope that I meet the challenge for TSG. Their challenge was to create a non-holiday winter card - I know it's not a card, but the 6x6 could be a large post card!

Well, either way I love the layouts and I hope you do too. The children are my neice and nephew out playing with their Anky Karin in the 2005 winter blizzard in West Virginia.

Tuesday Morning Sketches

Okay, so it's not Tuesday!!! In Denver we have had freezing temperatures. I mean freezing. Well, my craft room does not have heat and I can't work in the room. I am about to switch my living room to my craft room since I basically live in my craft room. I haven't been able to go in my craft room because it's like being outside and yesterday's high was 2 below. I woke up to 15 below weather. To make my sad story short - I haven't been able to walk in the room and use the computer. So I brought my camera to work and I am loading my image here (on my lunch time).

This digital image is darling. I am a sucker for penguins. I really enjoyed making this non-traditional colored holiday/winter card. I plan on giving it to my sweetie!!

Thanks for stopping by. I hope you enjoy.

Tuesday Morning Sketches & Monthly Exchange

I am so glad that I have participated in the last 6 month card exchange. I have had to really challenge myself with some of the images that I have received...this image being the most challenging. The 6 months are up and I plan on taking a break so that I can put together all the projects needed for me and my classroom.

I am not really an animal person, and having to come up with a card with the horse and the cowboy I kept putting it off. Well, with the Thanksgiving week and having had 5 days off from school - I got my mojo going. As I was working on my submission for Tuesday Morning Sketches I also began to color the western image. I was stressing!!! Then I looked at this weeks sketch and my image and viola the two were made for one another.

I have to admit...I like this card. It's not one I'll be giving away anytime too soon. I want to sit and look at all my hard work for a while. Thanks for stopping by and I can't wait to hear your opinion.

Tuesday Morning Sketches

Sorry, my post is way late. I saw this image and just fell in love with the mice. I thought it could go two ways...the way I used it or for the holidays. I think they are pretty versatile. The images come from The Greeting Farm and there were so many wonderful images to choose from - I hope you visit their site.

Thanks for stopping by. Thanks for all the great comments. I love hearing from you.

November's Exchange!!

Okay, Melissa my sister, asked me to post my Splitcoast swap cards...I have been posting them. November was her image and paper choice. She also threw in a challenge of having to select someone or something that inspires you. Of course I chose Silke Ledlow, her cards always inspire me. I am not a big fan of the image that was provided because they don't have mouths...I still think that is very strange!! I do like how this card came out. I had to have Melissa send me the stamp so that I could do the layering of the wagon and pumkin and so that I could cut out the apron from the DP she sent. I made a template of it but my magnifying glasses weren't strong enough and I kept cutting the wrong thing!!

Thanks for stopping by...

Read it Again!!!

I absolutely love this digital image. It's from Mo's Digital Pencil who is sponsoring this week's Tuesday Morning Sketches. I loved creating this card because the image is so close to my heart...children reading. I can't wait to share this card with my students in hopes that it will inspire some of them to read with their siblings.

The challenge this week was to have 3 decorative papers, 2 emblishments, and 1 flourish (okay so I used 2)...once I understood 3 dp's I was off to the races. I need to be careful with Mo's web site because she has so many wonderful images, be sure to check her out.

Thanks for stopping by today. I hope you have a fantastic day!!

TMS #19 & There She Goes #28

Okay, this week's Tuesday Morning Sketch was an absolute challenge for me. I loved the sketch and had an "elegant" image in my head.

This week's sponsor, The Pixie Cottage, was kind and sent the Design Team stamps. I received the image below and I was stumped!!! I am NOT an animal person. So not only did it not meet my elegant thoughts, it didn't appeal to me. I agonized for hours - literally! Yet, I really like how this card came out. I combined DP, chipboard, and ribbon and would've added just about anything for this to come out!!

I began by cutting a circle card (first one) and then cutting all the circles to go around the card. Then I sat and colored probably 5 or 6 different cows till I got the look I really wanted. Heck I even googled pictures of cows to contemplate black and white or brown and white. I even colored one of my cows pink and purple!! But I have to say, I like this card. It's not too bad.

I was cleaning out a lot of my paper this past week and came across this wonderful chipboard and decided to add it where there was to be flourishes...not to shabby. By adding the chipboard, I could play along with the There She Goes challenge this week.

My next challenge - the 6 month swap I belong to the host of the month sent a horse and cowboy scene...the only sentinment I can come up with is Bruce Willis saying, "Yippe ki-yay..." need I fill in the rest!!

Thanks for coming and taking a peek.

Tuesday Morning Sketches - No. 18

Wow! Can you believe that TMS has been going for 18 weeks. I hope that my work is improving as well!! This week's sponsor is Ildi Co. and I had a hard time making the decision which digi stamp I wanted to use - they were all so very cute. So I selected the two School (boy and girl) Clownkins.

Last week I'd had enough of the snow and my friend Peggy, who lives a few miles from me had enough as well. She had her boys dig out her car and she came and got me and took me to Archiver's. What a friend!! She just wanted an excuse to get out! She's not a scraper at all, but enjoyed looking at all the papers.

Well, I do hope you enjoy my two creations.

Snow Bear and Penguin

Well I have certainly been productive the last few days!! Considering it has snowed about 13" in the city and my car is buried, I have nothing to do but craft - well that and report cards. I want to post this card because I think it came out great! I think all this bear needs now is a bottle of coke - remember those ads!! I was on the web and was blog hopping, where I ended up who knows. In my surfing I found this sketch (iheart2stamp.com) and loved it - thought it would be great to use for my card.

Okay, I still have a lot to learn about photography as well as Photoshop Elements - this didn't post at all the way it showed on my screen - ugh!! I need to go back to work in Corporate America so I can keep up on this stuff.

I hope you enjoy.

Tuesday Morning Sketches

Okay, so I'm past Tuesday Morning...but would like to share my creation with you. The challenge this week was to alter something. So I saw these tins that International Coffees come in and thought about making these up for my students to give them a Halloween treat. Well that didn't happen!! My sister Karin taught me to do the alcohol inks, it was strange! Everytime I went for one color effect it would change the whole color scheme. I absolutely love the ribbon, wish I could find more just like it. The witch medallion comes from Close To My Heart.

Thanks for stopping by. Would love to hear your thoughts.

Fall Has Come and Gone!

I'll tell you, in the state of Colorado never ever pack your wardrobe because on in day in can be sunny and warm and then all of a sudden snow. That was the picture today. The day began semi-warm, then cold, then snow, then the sun stuck it's head out, and then it began to snow again. I just love Colorado.

I was on a mission today to get one of my swap cards completed today. This was not one that I was to do, but someone flaked and I decided to take on two groups!! Yikes right in the beginning of the school year - what was I thinking?? The image sent was a lot different! I cut out the pumpkin. I guess I didn't get the image (no offense to those who liked it). It was supposed to be a bear, but it looked like a sloth or possibly a monkey. It had wheat stalks and a bushel of apples as well. I just loved the pumpkin so I improvised, cut it out, cut some of the leaves around it and popped those up.

I like it! I think it came out nice. I hope you like it too! Thanks for checking it out!

Tuesday Morning Sketches and There She Goes

My favorite stamp company - There She Goes is sponsoring this week's Tuesday Morning Sketches. WAAA...I wanna win!! The sketch this week is just wonderful. When I began my card I used this wonderful paper from Close To My Heart. I loved the paper that I just couldn't see putting a stamped image over it! (I'll post it later) So, I selected a section of the paper that was not as detailed and then used my brand new set from TSG titled Dream Big. I really like the results.

Boy do I wish I didn't have to work. I have some new TSG stamps and I'm waiting for some stamps I ordered from another company (which is now taking more than a week to get here) and I wish I had the entire day to just stamp and create. I loved my summer and I want the school year to zoom...I have so many card ideas and no time to make them.

Thanks for stopping by. Come on join us at TMS and you could be one of the lucky winners for a TSG stamp.

Wahoo....Broncos 6-0!!!

Tuesday Morning Sketches

It's 11:15 p.m. in Denver - this teacher is going to be cranky in the morning. It's amazing the amount of paper work that is required of a teacher. We have report cards due, upcoming parent teacher conferences, and Individual Literacy Plans to write. How in the world do I ever find time for crafting?? It's called closing the door on school and just enjoying!! Don't get me wrong I love teaching, I just don't like the hours after school that I have to put in.

Anyway, this week's TMS sketch is a doozy (is that spelled right - hahaha)! This one took some serious planning Melissa. I love the image that I used from Close to My Heart. I had originally wanted to use the stamp that said, "You are my sunshine" (a thing between Melissa, my sister and I), but it was too big. Oh well, this worked out just fabulous!!

Thanks for stopping by. I hope you enjoy.

p.s. One of these days I need to learn how some of the bloggers take the photos of their cards and place the watermark on them. I have tried, but I guess I just don't have the software. I need to look into it!

TMS & TSG23

It's a beautiful day in Denver (not weather wise)! Here is my card for Tuesday Morning Sketches. I simply made this card for TMS, but as I was reading TSG's blog this week I can join in on their challenge this week as well - a monochromatic card. This is my new set from Close to My Heart - I just love it!! I hope you do to. I have never made a monochromatic card before, but I love the sketch and wanted to use the tree in the set - so I made a little switch. I can't wait to make more cards with the rest of the set!

Thanks for stopping by.

Crop Retreat Weekend

I was off for the weekend cropping my little heart out!! A lot of what I made was for Tuesday Morning Sketches (so I can't share at this time). I did make an actual scrapbook layout page that I would like to share - haven't added the photos, but I will. The paper and the stamps are from Close To My Heart. I love the colors and the flourish stamps.

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you enjoy!

TSG21 Trendsetters Say Goodbye

This week TSG is saying goodbye to some of their Trendsetters (boo hoo). The challenge is to case one or more of the of the Trendsetters cards. I had a hard time deciding which Trendsetter to case because they are all so wonderful. Well I sort of put two cards in one. I cased two cards from the amazing Silke Ledlow. I just love the new Treemendous set and really wanted to ink it up. I took the inspiration from the following two cards: Bloom and Treemendous (please click on the names to see her beautiful work).

I left my good camera at work - so I may have to retake and repost Monday night. This picture doesn't show off the silver brads. I love this card...and I hope you do to.

Thanks for stopping by.

Tuesday Morning Sketches No. 12

This week's sponsor is All That Scraps, CC Designs Sugarplums Apple Emma. I didn't think I would care for this image, because I have a problem with no mouths!! But I just absolutely love the image and the paper that I used for the sketch provided. I'm glad I opened up to something I didn't think I would like...I love this.

Thanks for looking.

TSG-20 & Some Mojo!

I can't believe it! I got a little wild today. I decided to try a Mojo Monday sketch and combine it with my favorite stamps challenge - There She Goes. I used the first stamp set I purchased from TSG titled Rejuvenate. I just love the perfume bottles and partially popped them off the page. The circles are from Close To My Heart (another favorite company of mine). I popped the top circle up as well. I know exactly who I need to give this card to...my massage therapist. She has had a rough couple of months and definitely needs to pamper herself.

Thanks for stopping by. I hope you enjoy my card.

Tuesday Morning Sketches

This week was not a sketch challenge, but a RIBBON challenge. When I began this project I had different images going through my head...this is what came out. I am not sure that I am fully statisfied with it turn out. I think that's because I had a completely different image in mind?? Hope you enjoy.

TSG19 -- Sketch Challenge

I received one of my wish list stamp sets from There She Goes and decided to participate in their weekly challenge. Although you cannot tell, the flower image I used is layered - I tried to photograph it, but it was frustrating me. I really enjoy how this card came out. I wanted to try this technique because I believe this is how I want to fashion my card holiday cards. Plain and simple!! Although cutting the hole and getting everything lined up wasn't that simple.

Thanks for stopping by and taking a look.

Tuesday Morning Sketches #10

Wow! I just can't believe that 10 weeks have already gone by...at this rate I'll be on holiday break soon! actually I am loving my classroom this year - I only have 1 (one) discipline problem this year compared to the 7 I had last year. I'm definitely more relaxed. Now I can make cards and not feel guilty that I'm not at work till 9 at night.

This week's sketch was simple and fun...check out the TMS blog. Here is my take on the sketch. What was cool was that I ordered the Polka Dot Pie line, Carnival with Pezzy from Pez-a-Doodle, and I sat down yesterday to determine paper colors and emblishments. I was cleaning my space (which then only takes 1 card to mess it all up again) and I was looking through a paper pack I received from my Close To My Heart Consultant - and viola! there was Fleur-de-lis paper in this pack - how could I resist.

As always, thanks for stopping by.

TSG18 - Custom Designer Paper

I recently had a wonderful conversation with Sr. Trendsetters, Angela and Holly from There She Goes and I expressed how much I would love to one day participate in Jessica's blog challenges. They didn't understand why I just didn't do it now. I explained that I was too intimidated. They both encouraged me to give it a try. Well here is my try...it didn't come out the way it was planned in my head, but it's not too bad. I'll keep trying. I can't wait to get my new sets from TSG and the one the was already on back order. Jessica's new set are awesome!!

Thanks for stopping by and taking a peek.

Tuesday Morning Sketches

One of these days - I'll post more than for Tuesday Morning Sketches...in other words I will get school under control and will be able to make more cards and such. Oh wait, I think I need to wait for summer break - is that here yet?

I decided to get some images from the companies that are sponsoring my little sister's sketch site - just to see what everyone had the chance at winning. I just absolutely loved the mask from Sassy Studio Designs (I think it's cool she named her company after me - Sassy). I really liked Princess Penelope. It was my first try as digi-stamps. Needless to say I sort of yelled at Melissa because I couldn't get the digi's to work - and of course it was all her fault!!

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you enjoy my work.

Tuesday Morning Sketches

For this week's challenge on Tuesday Morning Sketches the design was our choice, but the color scheme required using the following colors:My card was designed from a Close To My Heart stamp set that I absolutely love, but really didn't know what to use it for. I just love that these stamps didn't require coloring -- school is taking a great deal of my time and since I am such a perfectionist, I didn't have time to color.

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you enjoy.

Back to School

Well the summer is quickly coming to an end for me - boo hoo!! I have 2 days left before I have to return to work. Part of returning to work means a new classroom set-up. I love celebrating the children's birthdays. Last year I didn't even put their birthdays up. I'm not making that mistake this year. I spent the day making the 2nd Grade Birthday Calendar. I gleaned the idea from Close to My Heart Stamps. They made the calendar from a 12x12 and made it as family birthdays. I scoured Archiver's papers for the cardboard bottoms and cut, spliced, and taped them together to get a 15x15 template. What's going to be hard is that my class won't be finalized until close to mid-September. I made sure that the student names would easily come off. I also have other stamps that I want to use to put a emblishment that reflects the month, i.e., January - snow, December - holidays!!

Thanks for stopping by and looking. I hope you enjoy my love - scrapping!!

ATCs

I recently joined my neice's ATC swap and was concerned about making the 3.5 x 2.5 card. Course once I got the hang of it I really enjoyed making them. Below are two ATCs that I made for two separate ABC swaps. I think they're really cute!

Wings and Things, Swaps and Challenges...

This is my first post for There She Goes Wings and Things Challenge. I began this blog so I could join their fun and maybe win a stamp set!! Below is a compilation of cards that have wings. Thanks for stopping by. I hope you enjoy.

I just love swaps...especially when I get to be the host. I just love this purple butterfly. I began with the paper. I never dreamed that purple and orange were a good combination - who would've thought?? I did case the design of the card (paper, image, and ribbon are different). I sadly don't know where I got it from. I was surfing the next at 2 in the morning and thought I wrote it down. So I am sorry that I can't give credit for the layout to the person that deserves it. I love how this card came out.

This next card was a design for my sister, Melissa's Tuesday Morning Sketches. It was my interpretation of what she sketched. I used a half daisy stamp - stamped it twice and put them together. I love the bird and the other birds from this set. It was hard to choose!

Stampin' Up Demonstrators - Stamp Camp North and West. I love attending these stamp camps and just wanted to share the cards. I thought I would add them to the There She Goes Wings and Things Challenge just for your viewing pleasure. These SU Demonstrators made some amazing designs and I loved putting them together. I will have a hard time parting with these - which means I never will!!!

Girls, Girls, and More Girls

I really enjoyed being involved in the Girls, Girls, Girls Swap. I had originally signed up for one spot. I had a hard time deciding which set to use. I got lucky, someone dropped out of the swap and I took a second spot. I didn't have to choose - I used both sets. The first, is from Close to My Heart it was a stamp of the month and I didn't buy it - I borrowed my sisters. Now I want it and I can't buy it! I just love the message with the "girls." The first pic is the front of the card, and the second is the inside of the card.

I absolutely love this stamp set from There She Goes. This is my second card with this set. I can't wait to do a third.

Sailing Anyone?

I belong to a 6-month swap on SCS and we just began our first 6 months. The host of the month, Jackie, threw down the challenge of a creative fold. The stamp sent is Changito Pool Guy, I don't know the paper, but I love the colorful bubbles. I thought and thought and all I could think of was a sailboat for this funny monkey. I love how this came out...I hope my swappers enjoy it as well. I didn't put a sentiment on the card so that the receiver could either put "Happy Birthday" or "You're Invited."

More Cards...

My sister Melissa's "Tuesday Morning Sketches" launched this morning - Yahoo for her! She asked that I be a part of her design team. This is my first experience with sketches. Since I am a visual learner (show me, and I'll do it) this is perfect for me. This is my card, using Rejuvenate from There She Goes. I am also posting a birthday card I made for a friend. Knowing Jenn the colors of the card are not really her style, but when I explained to her why I made the card she was very appreciative of the work. I saw a folding technique on SCS and another friend Sarah showed us how to do the fold one afternoon. I really wanted to try it on my own, this is the result. Enjoy!

I joined Misti Stowell's "Cards for Kids" swap. I think the swap is an awesome idea. Send birthday cards for boys, girls, and support cards parents and the cards will be donated to The Children's Hospital here in Denver. I couldn't resist this great cause. I have made lots of cards, but looking through my file cabinet I have not made birthday cards, nor do I have birthday cards. I am only posting the girl card because this is something that I designed on my own. I hope you like it! The stamp used is from There She Goes Clear Stamps - Cupcake Mix & Match.

Wedding Card

My longtime friend Glynis married a few weeks ago and as a fan of There She Goes Clear Stamps and the inspiration of Maki Jones, TSG Trendsetter, I cased her card because it was just absolutely beautiful (click on her name and you can see her card). I made some of my own adjustments based on my "limited" tools. I really enjoyed putting the colors together based on Glynis' wedding colors (dark blue, cream, and green). I added the salmon color to her card because it's her favorite color to wear - I was surprised it wasn't in the wedding!
I unfortunately don't know the brand name of the paper I used. The stamp is from the Cupcake Mix & Match set from There She Goes.
